World Religion Day! , by Miss Glover
Date: 16th Jan 2017 @ 8:10pm
Happy World Religion Day!
Today we recognised the range of religions within our community. We discussed the importance of our British Values particularly showing equality to everybody no matter what religion or faith.
We focused particularly on Islam; we discussed some of their beliefs today and viewed some Islamic art. We really liked viewing the art and valued the creativity of the shapes and patterns used within the Islamic religion.
We enjoyed looking at it so much we decided to make our own! We selected some colours, picked a group of shapes and covered the shapes in coloured tissue paper. We then arranged the shapes in patterns and added to gold paper for an extra special look.

Textile Art, by Miss Glover
Date: 6th Jan 2017 @ 3:17pm
We have been learning about the West End Muscial Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Charlie's Grandad Joe wrote to us asking if we would make him and the other grandparents a brand new bed cover. We decided to base the design on sweets from the story. We designed it by drawing it, working with a partner and then finally selecting suitable materials to add to our very own patch. Check out our final product!
Grandad Joe loved it!

Where do leaves go in Winter?, by Miss Glover
Date: 23rd Nov 2016 @ 2:16pm
Today we shared our ideas about where leaves go in Winter. We had some interesting thoughts, my favourite one was that they go on holiday. So....we decided to investigate and go on a leaf hunt. We used a leaf identification sheet and found lots of types of leaves belonging to different trees. We found leaves on the ground and leaves on the trees! They have not gone on holiday after all.....

Class Dojo, by Miss Fisher
Date: 9th Oct 2016 @ 7:17pm
This coming week, throughout school, we will be using ClassDojo.
Your child should have brought home a password for you to log onto the app on Friday.
Dojos will now be awarded instead of team points so that you can have instant feedback once your child has been awarded a dojo ... dojos can also be deducted for unacceptable behaviour (but we are sure this won't happen in Year 1)!
Please be paitent with us (well, Miss Fisher) while we get to grips with this new electornic system (I'm sure Miss Glover will get me up to speed).
If you have any questions please feel free to ask a member of the Year 1 staff and we will try our best to answer any questions.
Let's get dojoing!!
