A lovely first week in P2, by Mrs Potter

What an amazing first week we have had in Year 2!

Firstly, Happy Birthday to Dylan Wright who is the first to be 7 and well done for being the first to get a phone call home for working hard today!

Congratulations to Adam Doward who got his two star badge for always being ready to learn! Well done Adam.

Bronte Barba was chosen to sit on the Golden Table for having excellent manners at lunch time.

We look forward to seeing you at our Meet the Teacher afternoon on Tuesday 12th September at 2:30pm

The summer is here so it's time to say goodbye 😟😟

You've been a lovely class all year and both me and Mrs Innis will miss you lots and lots next year!

I'll look forward to seeing you around in the Juniors next year and hopefully you'll come and visit us sometime next year!

Transition week in Year 3, by Mrs Potter

The summer is nearly here!

We have had a lovely week in Year 3 and we're ready for when we come back after summer!

This week has involved lots of 'getting to know you' activities and I know that Miss Kean is already looking forward to having you all in her class next year!

Next week is back to normal so your children will be picked up and dropped off at the Year 2 entrance

Hello everyone,

This week, in Literacy, we have been on an adventure all over the world looking for Charlie's underpants. This has involved learning about Paris, Peru, Nepal and the Serengeti in Africa.

in Maths, we have been learning about the three and four times tables, getting ready for the juniors.

We have also enjoyed extra P.E this week as we start Athletics. We have some brilliant sprinters, Shot Putters and Javelin throwers in our class.

Please remember that next week is transition week next week. The class will be going to year three for the whole week so your children will need to be dropped off at the Year 3/4 entrance. Children will come out at 3:15 as opposed to 3:10 for all of next week.

Sports Week! (Week beginning 19th June 2017), by Mrs Potter

What a week it has been! 

This week, we have had a really fun week! On Monday, it was a very hot but very fun Sports Day. We hope all of the children and parents/carers enjoyed it! Congratulations to Miss Glovers team who were the winners and thank you all for trying your best!

On Thursday, all of Year 2 enjoyed a trip to Liverpool World Museum. We visited the planetarium where we looked at a video about life beyond Earth and got to touch a meteorite which was millions of year old. Then we went to the aquarium where we learned about sea life which swims and walks. After lunch, we went on a tour which involved visiting the Bug House and the Egyptian Centre where we saw a REAL Mummy! Thank you to all of the parents who came to help out! We couldn't have done it without you.

On Friday, we had a visit from Fencing and Cycling Paralympian Craig McCann come in and inspire us to say 'Yes' to every opportunity we get given. We have taken part in sponsored sporting activities throughout the morning and it has been really fun.

Congratulations to Maisie Ashton who has earned a two star badge this week for being amazing!

Hello everyone.

This week in Literacy, we have been reading about 'Supertato' on his quest to defeat Evil Pea. We have been practicing using imperitive verbs to form commands to give to Supertato to help him trap Evil Pea in jelly.

In Maths, We have been learning about capacity of bottles. We did a really fun experiment with lots of bottles to measure which bottles were more than, less than or equal to 1 Litre.

Congratulations to James Jones who has won this weeks star badge for an excellent improvement in his handwriting. Keep it up James!

Please don't forget that it is sports week next week and sports day on Monday morning so P.E Kits need to be in

Another reminder is to make sure that you have signed the permission slip so that your child can come on the school trip. If we could have them ASAP, that would be brilliant. Thank You.

The Beginning of the End! - Week beginning Monday 5th June, by Mrs Potter

Welcome back everyone!

This short week has been a fun one! In Literacy, we have been learning all about the General Election. We have learned about the party leaders as well as some of their policies. We also participated in a school election on Wednesday which taught everyone how they will vote when they are older.

In Maths, we have been learning about reading scales, especially thermometers. This has involves a test of cold, tap and warm water. We got to see how the thermometer rose and can now read the temperature.

On Thursday, we had a special Science day which was lead by some Year 6 students. We got to see if we are good tasters. This involved putting blue food dye on our tongues to count how many taste buds we had in a certain area.

Congratulations to Sophie Crosbie who won this weeks star badge for always trying her best in every lesson. Well done Sophie!

SATs are over!!!, by Mrs Potter

Hello everyone!

With SATs finished, P2 have enjoyed a relaxed end of the week with lots of fun activities. We'd all like to congratulate everyone for trying your hardest! I'm sure that the results will do you proud.

On Thursday, we had a lovely visit from the RSPB who told us about all of the wildlike in and around our school. We had an excellent time exploring the school grounds looking at birds, insects and plants.

We were also lucky enough to have parents in for our inspire afternoon. Some of the puppet monsters you made were awesome. We hope you enjoyed coming in as much as we enjoyed having you.

Congratulations to Ryley Newman who won this weeks star badge for amazing listening concentration when sitting on the carpet. Well done Ryley!

We hope you have a wonderful and safe week off!

Hello everyone!

Well done to everyone for getting through a really tough week! We've only got next week left and then SATs are over!

Congratulations to Jason Fairclough and Connor Wilson for winning the SEAL Certificates for this half term. You've both worked exceptionally hard this half term! Well done!

Also, Congratulations to Emma Frodsham for winning this weeks star badge for always doing her best both inside and outside the classroom.

We have had fabulous attendance this week! It would be superb if we could keep it up for next week too!

Hello everyone,

This week, we have been getting everything ready for our SATs next week. We have been practicing our handwriting as well as reading comprehensions and maths.

We have also continued looking at our plants as they are still growing. Some of them are huge!

Congratulations to Leon Whitfield who has won this weeks star badge for using excellent lead in lines in his much improved handwriting. Keep it up Leon.

Just a reminder that next week we do start our SATs next week so if the children could be in promptly, it would be much appreciated so that we can keep to the timetable

Hello everyone, hope you're all well!

With SATS fast approaching, we have spent time this week doing some past papers on preparation for the real tests. We are all very proud of what you have all done far. Keep up the hard work, not too much longer now. Well done to all of the children who got 100% on any of the tests. You are all amazing!

In Literacy, we have been reading 'Tadpole's Promise' and have made our own story about two other animals which share promises.

In Maths, we have been starting column addition and subtraction. You have all tried very hard on this difficult topic.

We have continued learning about and watering our plants in Science. Some of the plants have grown to nearly 30cm!

Well done to Frazer Sweeney who got our star badge for his hard-working attitude this week. Well done Frazer.

We have also visited Reception this week to visit the new chicks. They are so cute and we loved looking at them.

Also, Joshua Roberts and Ethan Clarke built this awesome race track in nurture. Have fun racing boys!

This week, we have started reading 'A nest is noisey' by Dina Hutts Aston and Sylvia Long. We have been learning about all of the animals that live in nests.

Hello everyone!

This week, we have continued looking at fractions in greater depth as well as making our own story about the magic carpet at the end of 'The Journey'. 

Today, we were lucky enough to go and visit The United Reform Church to learn all about Easter. We have really enjoyed our time at the church and the activities that we did there. You have all done the school proud with your bevaviour.

Hello everyone!

This week, we have been learning about 'The Journey' by Aaron Becker. We have been writing about the lonely girl who went on an adventure through her bedroom wall.

In Maths, we have started to learn about fractions. We can now tell when a shape is cut into halves, thirds and quarters.

We have also continued learning about William Shakespeare following on from last weeks Arts Week.

Congratulations to Lola Shaw for earning the star certificate for this week for always keeping her eyes on the prize!

Happy Birthday to Liam McGuire who turned 7 this week.

Also, A huge well done to Lexi Hand and Harley Smith who won our SEAL Certificates for this half term. Lexi won hers for setting her own goals and achieving them and Harley won his for never giving up no matter how hard it gets. You are both a credit to the school! 

In more upsetting news, we say goodbye to Ethan Halliwell today. Ethan is moving schools so today is his last day with us. Good luck Ethan, you will be missed!

In the theme of Shakespeare, this week we have looked at the Tempest. We love this story but we all have different favourite characters.

This week in literacy, we have started learning about The Tempest by Shakespeare. We have been writing about our favourite characters.

In Maths, we have started looking at shaped along with lines of symmetry. We can use mirrors to determine if a shape has any lines of symmetry.

This week, we have continued working with money and can solve more challenging problems. We can now find the same amount of money in multiple different ways.

We have also continued reading our book  'The Naughty Bus' and have been writing about our adventures as if we were the Naughty Bus. 

Thank you to all the children who came into school with their beavers and rainbows uniforms.You all looked very smart!

This week, in Maths, we have been learning about money. We now know all the coins and what they're worth. We can also make the same amount of money using different coins.

In English, we have been looking at the adventures of The Naughty Bus and we have learnt how to up-level our writing.

Today, we have been creating fruit kebabs in class. Although it was quite messy, we really enjoyed it and got to eat it all!

We also say goodbye to Miss Whitehead today! Thank you for helping us over the last few months and good luck in the future!

Hello everyone,

This week we have enjoyed exploring Victoria falls in Zambia, Table Mountain and Kruger National Park, both in South Africa. Take a look at our photos!

In English, we have looked at improving our sentence structures by including adverbs and using subordinate clauses.

We have also been improving our addition in Maths by solving doubles and partitioning.

Hello everyone,

What an exciting week we have had! We visited the Save the Elephant research camp in Samburu, Kenya on Google Exhibition to have a look at how Africa differs from where we live. We have learned about different landscapes including Mount Koitogor and rivers. We have also looked at different wildlife we might find if we were to visit and Acacia trees as well. We were shocked to find out that some children have to walk for over an hour to get to school!

We have also been learning about the time this week. We know how to tell the time and solve problems invilving jumping forward in time to work out when something will be finished. 

Our star badge winner this week is Lexi Hand for being a super sensible member of class! Well done Lexi!

Hello everyone,

This week we have been reading Handa's Surprise in our English lessons. We also learned a bit about Kenya. We looked at traditional clothing and how it helped keep the people cool in hot weather.

We have also had a visit from both the NSPCC and the Anthony Walker Foundation this week. We know it's never okay to call people names or hurt them, just because they might look different in some way.

Happy New Year everyone!

Our first week back has been an arty affair! We have painted pieces of cloth in lots of different colours and they have been pieced together thanks to Mrs Hart to make Josephs multicoloured coat.

Also this week, we have been tought all about Samba music. We had the opportunity to play some Samba which turned out to be really fun!

Hi all,

This morning, we have enjoyed our breakfast with Santa. Some of us even tried cereal for the first time and we loved it!

We also planted our bulbs with Mr Ward this morning too. We are looking forward to seeing them grow in the Spring!
