What a great kick off to Sports Week!, by Miss Fisher

Date: 13th Jun 2016 @ 5:20pm

The children had a great time in the hall playing dodgeball today!  They developed their throwing and aiming skills and talked about the principles of being a good sportsperson; not just being the fastest, most skilled or strongest but being honest, following the rules and supporting fellow competitors.

This week in our topic work we have been making treasure maps. First we studied good examples treasure maps; looking at geographical features and the pirate themed names of places.  Then the children worked together to design their own. After the children had finished making their map they had fun using their programming skills to move the Beebots around their maps.

Look who came to visit us today!, by Miss Fisher

Date: 24th May 2016 @ 9:12pm

Clink the robot popped into the Year 1 classrooms today.  We found him to be very friendly and he answered lots of questions about how his appearance.  The children then learnt how to join two questions with a 'sticky and'. This writing skill will help us write our job descriptions to hopefully employ our own robots!

Clink , by Miss Glover

Date: 22nd May 2016 @ 10:55am

In Literacy we are reading the quality text Clink, this fits in with our Key Stage topic Robots! This week the book revealed that Clink is a robot which can do jobs! We have looked at the authors use of verbs, adjectives and nouns and used some key vocabulary in our writing last week. The children decided that in fact, they want a robot of their own. As a result of this, on Friday children wrote their own introduction for job application so they can employ their own robot. I was very impressed.

I have photographed some Q1 STAR writers-  a big well done!!!

Money, money, money!, by Miss Fisher

Date: 21st May 2016 @ 9:55am

This week in Year 1 we have been learning about money.  We have found a great page on a website with lots of fun money games (address below) but don't forget giving your child the opportunity to use money in real life situations is the best way to learn.

Judo Assembly , by Miss Glover

Date: 19th May 2016 @ 8:20pm

KS1 had a great time yesterday afternoon. We had a special Judo assembly. A black belt instructor told us lots about Judo. Some lucky boys in Q1 had chance to try out the sport with close supervision. In that short time we learnt about respect on the mat and some key Judo moves!

There will be a Judo lunch club coming to Queen's Park for KS1.  Looks like we already have some professionals in training...check our pictures.

Proud Headteacher , by Mrs Kellett

Date: 18th May 2015 @ 10:52pm

Luckily, I have had lots of opportunities to feel proud of the children in our school and today I was overwhelmed with pride of the achievements of two of our children.

Joe in Y6 travelled to Skegness over the weekend to play in a Rugby tournament.  They played five games and finished first.  Joe was the captain of the team which beat Milford Rugby Club in the final - a team that were unbeaten.  Well done to Joe and all his team mates.  One to watch in the future if you are a Saints fan!

Charlotte in year one came to see me today and I commented on her beautiful new haircut, however she then went on to tell me that she had actually asked her mum if she could have her hair cut because she wanted to give it to 'The Little Princess Trust'.  This Trust is a charity that provides children with wigs because they have lost their own hair because of Cancer treatment.  Each wig that is donated to a child costs the charity £350.  Charlotte has had her hair cut and has also been raising money - so far £368!  What a fantastic achievement.

On 15th May, Charlotte went to the hairdressers and had a massive 9 inches cut from her hair.

What a selfless, humbling and generous thing to do for children who are suffering.  I am so proud of you Charlotte

A big hello, by Mrs Lister

Date: 20th Apr 2015 @ 5:04pm

Hello and welcome back to you all.  We have had a super day in school. The sun is shining and everyone looks to have grown over Easter. It must be all the yummy, scrummy Easter eggs the children have been eating.

Today we have been reading the story of the Rainbow fish and thinking of adjectives to describe him. Can you tell your adult the start of the story?
