Breakfast with Santa, by Mr Everett

Date: 11th Dec 2015 @ 11:48am

Friday 11th December

It's breakfast with Santa. Ho, ho, ho! What a wonderful morning the children have had having breakfast with Santa in the hall. We've had crumpets, toast and juice as well as some treats from Santa himself.  Ask your children what they've got up to. They may be hiding some chocolate from you and keeping it to themselves! Have a lovely weekend.

French Penpals, by Mrs Taylor

Date: 7th Dec 2015 @ 8:24pm

I have received a message from the teacher at L'Ecole Publique d'Ascain to say that the children were so excited to read the Christmas cards which Q4 made for them . We gave our French friends a little insight into St Helens so she said that they will write back to us with news about their lovely village in the South West of France. How exciting! I'm not sure if we will hear from them before Christmas but fingers crossed it should be soon.

French penpals, by Mrs Taylor

Date: 19th Nov 2015 @ 7:48pm

We are being super organised (just in case of postal hold-ups) and have written Christmas cards with a St Helens touch to our penpals who live in Ascain near the Pyrenees. Some children decided to draw The Dream with a Christmas 'feel' and we included photos of St. Helens landmarks. Hopefully our French friends will reply with news of their hometown.

French rap, by Mrs Taylor

Date: 19th Nov 2015 @ 6:36pm

As part of Anti-bullying week we had decided to make up a rap in French which involved some role play and movement from the children. We have some very talented performers in our class (and super French accents).

Saints School , by Mrs Kellett

Date: 6th Oct 2015 @ 9:25pm

This morning Q4 spent the day at Langtree Park at Saints School. The coaches praised the children's behaviour and I was proud of the way they answered questions. They tried on players' jerseys in the changing rooms, walked through the players' tunnel onto the pitch, did a training session and learned about diet and nutrition.  Well done Q4 Mrs Taylor

We have had a fabulous afternoon in 4HJ. Thankyou for all those parents who came into our class to enjoy an afternoon of painting, colour mixing and sketching with their children. We discovered that amongst our parents and children we have a number of budding artisits of the future. Can you spot your artwork in the photographs?

World of Glass, by Mrs Hanson-Jones

Date: 30th Jun 2015 @ 10:13pm

What a day!

After walking to the World of Glass with the leaders at world record marathon pace, we arrived in one piece, if not a little warm. We enjoyed a variety of workshops including watching a glassblowing demonstration, glass painting, finding out what the Romans had to do with glass making and watching a short film about the why and how St Helens became world famous for glass.

It wasn't all hard work and learning - we also explored the mirror maze and even found time to eat some lunchsmiley.

A big thankyou must go to all the helpers who came with uslaugh.

Keep watching this space for photographs.

Pupils quotes -

"I was really focusing on the glass painting and this was my favourite activity because I had great fun doing it".

"It was a wonderful day. My favourite part was the tunnels because it was nice and cool".

"I liked the glass blowing because it was really good learning about making glass".

"I really liked the short film because the special effects looked real".

"Designing my own patterns on glass was cool".

"Yesterday was the best day ever. I couldn't choose my favourite activity as it was all great".

"I found out that boys aged 10 or 11 had to work in the glass factory and contitions were very difficult to work in".

"I enjoyed the mirror maze because he had to step on buttons to make the wizard talk. But I didn't like the tunnels as they were very dark".

Robot Art - Eric Joyner, by Mrs Hanson-Jones

Date: 20th Jun 2015 @ 10:44pm

We used watercolours today to create a background for our robot art. Miss Gauld showed us two techniques, wet brush on wet paper, then wet brush on dry paper. We decided which one gave us the best finish then placed a printed robot in position to give us an idea of what our finished piece of art work might look like.

Keep watching this space as our topic develops.
