Courageous Advocacy

At Queen’s Park, we want to make a difference and be agents of change. We refer to ourselves as Courageous Contributors. Making courageous contributions to society gives us the opportunity to deepen our spirituality. We define spirituality as understanding and connecting with ourselves, others, the world and God.

Contributing allows us to see ourselves as agents of change who can make a positive impact on others and the world. We are change-makers in God’s name and take inspiration from the heroes of the Bible.

We would like to introduce you to Sharon and Hopeman.  These children attend our partner school in Tanzania.  We sponsor these two children every year and have been part of their journey since they started school.  We receive half-termly reports to let us know how they are getting on.  We also get to speak to them directly through Zoom and hear all about their school, their culture and way of life.   We work really closely with the local charity ACE.  Sue and Ron let us know what the school needs and we raise funds to help.  We have provided breakfast, shoes and essential funds to help with maintaining the school.

This year, each cohort has planned a Passion Project that they will implement throughout the year and assess for impact over time. We are really excited about our upcoming projects and about working alongside members of the community to make a positive difference.

Our Passion Projects

EYFS – We all belong at Queen’s Park

A settling in project linked to our class fox Reggie to help him settle into QP life. We will help him learn about our school, and important rules and routines

Year 1 – Wildlife Project ‘Connecting with the world around us’

We want to enhance the outdoor area to encourage local and diverse wildlife to visit our field.

Year 2 – No poo zone!

We have noticed that some dog owners do not pick up their pet’s waste – this spoils are lovely public spaces. We want to encourage dog owners to pick up their dog’s poo at Taylor Park by raising awareness, creating posters and providing biodegradable waste bags for those who may have forgot their own.

Year 3 – Connecting with our community

We will make contact with one of the local Residential Care homes (Ruskin Lodge or Grace Court) and plan an initial visit in September to begin establishing a relationship with them. We aim to visit once per half term on a Friday if this is practical with the residential care home staff.

Year 4 – Master of Waters: celebrating culture, identity and heritage

The project celebrates James Clarke – a pioneering figure who dedicated his life to saving others, teaching water safety and building community in the city of Liverpool. His grandson, Chris, will come in to launch the project and the Year 4 children plan to raise awareness of water safety in high incident areas such as Carr Mill Dam.

Year 5 – Stop Hate, Speak Out!

During the May half term, somebody spray painted some horrible, racist graffiti on a house near our school. It has made us very upset and angry and we want to make sure that racism and hateful language will never be used in our school.  We have liaised with John Williams (Merseyside Police first Black Detective Chief Inspector and former staff member at the Anthony Walker Foundation) to arrange for him to speak to us and see how we can help.
