The Queen's Park Way

Behaviour and Character Curriculum - the Queen's Park Way!

At Queen’s Park, our approach to behaviour is rooted in the development of pupils’ character and is underpinned by our Queen’s Park Way curriculum and our restorative practice behaviour policy. Together, these ensure a consistent, fair and inclusive approach.

The Queen’s Park Way clearly defines the behaviours, routines and values we expect all pupils to demonstrate. These expectations promote positive attitudes to learning, respectful behaviour and strong relationships. Pupils are taught to be polite, respectful and considerate, to show gratitude, and to take responsibility for their actions, supporting their personal development and emotional wellbeing.

Behaviour expectations are taught explicitly during the first week of the Autumn term alongside the National Curriculum. This ensures that pupils understand what is expected of them and why. Pupils are expected to know, remember and apply this learning in their daily behaviour.

Our restorative practice approach focuses on repairing relationships, developing accountability and helping pupils to reflect on the impact of their behaviour on others. When behaviour does not meet expectations, restorative conversations support pupils to understand what has happened, who has been affected, and how harm can be repaired. This approach promotes self-regulation, empathy and responsibility.

The Queen’s Park Way is revisited at the start of each term and reinforced throughout the year to ensure consistency and high expectations. The impact of this approach is seen in calm, orderly classrooms, positive relationships and pupils who feel safe, respected and supported to behave well. This prepares pupils effectively for the next stage of education and for life in modern Britain.
