Governor Reflections
Mr Roy Quinn - Chair of Governors |
When my eldest son started school at Knowsley Road URC school, they advertised for a Parent Governor, I applied and was successful. When the two schools merged I was nominated as Vice Chair of the Shadow Governing Body of the new school. This led to me becoming Chair of the new school, Queens Park CE/URC Primary. Around this time was when I became a Christian and was nominated by St Luke's PCC to be a Foundation Governor. After several years as Foundation Governor I was nominated as Co-Opted Governor and have been there since then. This journey started in November of 1985 and I believe that this time as Governor has been made possible through God's will. |
Mrs Samantha Forbes - Staff Governor |
As a dedicated member of the staff and a practising Christian, I am deeply committed to upholding the vision and ethos of our unique co-denominational faith school. I first came to Queen’s Park as a supply teacher in 2015, and from my very first day, I knew it was where I wanted to teach. The school’s values, ethos, and the genuine care for its children resonated perfectly with my own educational philosophy and my desire to serve the community where I was raised. In 2018, I was honoured to become the staff governor and am now serving my second term. I am passionate about being a voice for the staff and ensuring that the school continues to thrive under its guiding vision and in the Lord’s name. My role as governor has provided invaluable insight into school leadership and highlighted the power of a strong, united community. It is a privilege to work alongside a vision-driven governing body with shared commitment to serving others. |
Mrs Dee Wilde - Vice Chair of Governors |
In my role as a School Business Manager in a Secondary school, having previously worked in the primary sector too, I wanted to offer my knowledge and experience to a local primary school. My children, now adults, had happy experiences in primary and I wanted to give something back as thanks. My time with my knowledge and experience seemed a good way to do this. I contacted Governor Services to find out more and was given a list of the primary schools with governor vacancies. On researching each school’s website I was drawn to Queens Park for its child nurturing values and its community focus. A visit and meeting was arranged for me to meet the Head Teacher. The warmth and friendliness during this visit and tour of the school confirmed Queens Park was where I wanted to be a governor and I feel honoured to be part of such a caring and fabulous school. |
Mr Andrew Gorman - Parent Governor |
I wanted to become a governor at Queen’s Park because my daughter attends the school, and I care about ensuring she and all pupils receive the best possible experience. I’m passionate about supporting a school community where every child feels valued, inspired, and encouraged to flourish. Queen’s Park’s vision, rooted in the belief that “with God, everything is possible,” reflects my own hope that children grow in confidence, resilience, and faith. By contributing to the strategic direction of the school, I hope to help uphold its mission and values, ensuring all children are given the opportunity to thrive. Thankfully I've seen this development in my own daughter |
Mrs Kate Sawyer - Foundation Governor |
As a member of St Luke’s church and primary school teacher I was excited to volunteer for the role of Foundation Governor in 2021. The school’s Christian ethos is fundamental to the school and the Christian distinctiveness permeates everything the school does. I love seeing that vision being carried out in the practical actions and words of the staff and children on a daily basis and have seen first-hand the genuine love, affection and joy with which they speak of their school and their understanding that with God everything is possible. It is a privilege to work with such a dedicated team of Governors, Head Teacher, leaders and school staff in serving the needs of the local and school community and the mission of the church |
Mrs Debbie Dowd - LA Governor |
My role as a Local Authority SEND Casework Officer means I have frequent contact with Queens Park school. I am, as all visitors are, made very welcome at the school and have always been impressed by the caring, inclusive ethos evident as it fits perfectly with my own values and beliefs. I was raised not far from Queens Park School; my children and I attended nearby primary and secondary schools and consequently have been part of the local community for all of my life. I applied for the role of Local Authority governor as I want to build my own experience and skills whilst making a positive contribution to outcomes for the children and families in my local area. |
