Joyeuses Paques!, by Mrs Taylor

Date: 25th Mar 2016 @ 10:23am

As part of our celebrations of World Book Day earlier this month (which had an international theme) the children of Y3 and Y5 designed posters of their favourite books. As we are sharing them with our friends in France and Sicily we added some French and Italian phrases. Y5 have included cards describing themselves (their French friends had already sent us a brilliant Guess Who? Type game about themselves) and y1 and y2 drew wings onto bells after hearing of 'la legende des cloches volantes '. These are currently winging their way to Velles in France. Why not say 'Joyeuses Paques ' to your child to see if they know what you mean?

Year 2's Church Visit, by Mrs Ashton

Date: 22nd Mar 2016 @ 5:24pm

What a lovely morning the pupils and staff from our Year 2 classes have had. The kind people at the United Reform Church, Ormskirk Road, invited us to to come for an EASTER EXPERIENCE visit! We were welcomed by some very kind volunteers that gave us an interesting insight into the Easter Story.

The pupils visited each station in small groups to listen to events from the Easter Celebration and discuss feelings and values, some of which linked to our own values here at Queen's Park.

Pupils engaged fantastically, full of questions and eager to participate. James said "I loved it, my favourite part was the woman who talked about hopes and dreams."

Queen's Park would like to give thanks to everyone at the church, who gave their time today, without whom the event would have not been possible.

Thank-you

Coming soon!# Our very own fashion show! #We are so excited!, by Miss Hughes

Date: 10th Mar 2016 @ 3:50pm

During TGIF this term I have been working with children from years 3,4,5 and ,6 to create some new dresses and bags you will never have seen before. We are using plastic shopping bags, carrier bags (all shapes and sizes) and bin bags. The children have been designing and creating their ideas over the past few weeks. They are looking amazing and we have got some talented fashion designers here at Queen's Park. To celebrate the talent we have found we are working on presenting our designs in a fashion show later this term. Move over New York fashion week and welcome Queen's Park fashion design extravaganza. All the children that have been designing their dresses and bags will be wearing them in the show.

We can't wait to show them off!

Messy Times at Eco Club, by Mr Ward

Date: 22nd Jan 2016 @ 11:34am

As the weather gets colder, our local birdlife searches frantically for food to keep going through the winter. So at Eco Club this week we decided to help our birds by giving them a good balance of fat, seeds and mealworms to give them the energy they require.

It was a messy session this week and we had lots of seed, lard and mealworms flying all over the community room (not intentionally I must add). Hopefully our birds will benefit from our fat balls which are now in the fridge harding up ready to be removed from the containers.

Share Family Numeracy, by Miss Hope

Date: 19th Jan 2016 @ 8:23pm

This week, in our Share Family Numeracy group, we have been reasoning and solving problems about penguins. We read a story called 365 Penguins by Jean-Luc Fromental. After reading the story we played some number games with penguins to help us practise counting in twos, fives and tens. Then we made 100 penguins out of plastic cups, we then organised our penguins by stacking them in pyramids like the dad in the story had done. We had to experiment with our starting number so we could complete our pyramid. We ended our session by solving some word problems about penguins. Well done everyone you all worked so hard.
