Homework expectations
Homework:
In line with our school homework policy, the pupils in year five will be expected to complete the following homework each week –
- Reading books each night/Reading Plus x 4 times weekly
- Spellings
- TTRS x3 arithmetic independent practice
- SPAG practice
- Half-termly project (optional)
If you wish to see a copy of the policy which outlays the requirements for teachers, parents/guardians and pupils, please ask for a copy from the school office.
Reading:
Children are expected to read their school reading books daily at home for ten minutes per day. They should be heard read by an adult who can then sign their reading record book. These should also be brought to school daily. Books will be changed by the TA at a set time during the week.

Times tables:
Being fluent in times tables up to 12 x 12 is essential to support mathematical understanding in Year 5. Children will be using ‘Times Tables Rockstars’ in school most days and will be expected to log on at home if they have access to the internet to reinforce their understanding.
